Our psychological assessments of children and adolescents provide a structured and evidence-based approach to understanding your child's mental health, emotional or behavioural difficulties. Conducted by HCPC registered Psychologists in a confidential and compassionate environment, these assessments help identify areas of challenge, clarify symptoms, and inform personalised support.

What is a Psychological Assessment?

A psychological assessment is a collaborative clinical process designed to build a clear understanding of a young persons difficulties, considering their strengths, development and experiences.

Assessments can be helpful for:

Our team have specialist experience and training to deliver a range of psychological assessments, depending on your needs. This includes:

General psychological assessment for mental health, emotional or relationship difficulties.

Cognitive Assessment (e.g. attention, memory, executive functioning)
Where appropriate, we consider overlapping or co-occurring presentations, supporting a more integrated understanding.
Assessment & Therapy: How they fit together
Prior to your first appointment, you will be asked to complete standardised and validated questionnaire measures, which are used to inform the assessment. A comprehensive psychological assessment is completed across the first two sessions. This includes time with parents/carers and time with your child alone, if they are comfortable to. Following an assessment, you will receive a full report, which includes individualised recommendations and resources, as well as an agreed therapeutic plan and individual goals.

Based on the assessment, we will agree the most appropriate therapeutic approach, tailored to your child. Psychologists are trained across multiple therapeutic modalities, and the approaches are integrated based on an individuals unique needs. All therapies at The Lotus Psychology Practice are informed by scientific research and are and in line with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines.
