Dr Caitlin Neill

Dr Caitlin Neill is a Clinical Psychologist who works as an associate at The Lotus Psychology Practice. Caitlin specialises in working with children, young people and their families. She was worked in NHS practice for over ten years.

Caitlin gained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Exeter before going on to complete a master’s degree in clinical applications of psychology from the University of Warwick. Caitlin also has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of East London.

 

In her NHS roles, Caitlin works as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in a busy London hospital, supporting children and young people with psychological distress as a result of acute and chronic medical and health conditions. She has worked across a range of hospital settings and specialties, including orthopaedics, oncology, diabetes, gastroenterology, feeding difficulties, headaches, complications of excess weight and neonatal care.

 

Caitlin has undertaken specialist training to offer specialist assessments for autism and learning disabilities. She also works in a child development team, offering multidisciplinary assessments for autism and neurodiversity. Within this role, she offers support to children, young people and their families to navigate both the strengths and difficulties they might experience in relation to neurodiversity. This frequently includes emotion regulation, positive behaviour support and making changes to the environment to best support young people with autism. Caitlin co-facilitates a sleep clinic for children and young people with sleep difficulties and has trained as a Sleep Counsellor.

 

Caitlin uses an integrative approach to psychological therapy, drawing on systemic, narrative and third-wave Cognitive Behaviour Therapy models. Caitlin prides herself on offering a warm, welcoming and flexible approach.

 

Caitlin has conducted and published research in academic journals concerning the adequacy of inquiry about, documentation of, and treatment of trauma and adversities (Neill & Read, 2022).

 

Caitlin maintains links with a number of London universities involved with training the future cohort of Clinical Psychologists. She supervises Trainee Clinical Psychologists who are undertaking their doctoral training and is also involved with selection interviews for these training courses.
