Dr Lauren Duncan is a Counselling Psychologist and associate at The Lotus Psychology Practice. Lauren completed an undergraduate degree at University College London, before undertaking her doctorate training and qualifying as a Counselling Psychologist at City, St George's University of London.
Alongside her private practice, Lauren works in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) service within the NHS, and as a Lecturer and module lead for the doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City University.
Lauren has experience working with children, young people and adults, using a range of therapeutic approaches to match the individual needs of each client. She offers evidence-based support for a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, loss, loneliness, low self-esteem, trauma, school-related stress and eating disorders. She is skilled in working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and schools to provide thorough, evidence-based assessments and tailored recommendations. This often includes providing consultation to families, schools and education professionals, ensuring recommendations are practical and tailored to children's needs. Alongside her therapeutic work, she completes neurodevelopmental assessments within multidisciplinary CAMHS teams, giving her a strong understanding of neurodiversity and the broader systems that affect a young person’s wellbeing.
Lauren sees each person as an individual and is passionate about tailoring her approach so clients feel understood, supported and empowered. She aims to create a safe, calm and non-judgemental space where people can explore what they’re going through at a pace that feels right for them. Collaboration is central to her practice - she works closely with clients to shape goals and make decisions together. Above all, her focus is on helping people move towards a life that feels more manageable, meaningful and connected.
