After qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2006, she worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Bedfordshire. She later spent many years working in various hospitals across London, supporting people with their psychological adjustment to chronic or life limiting illness. For the past four years, Sheena has been working exclusively in private practice.

Throughout her career, Sheena has trained extensively in a wide range of psychological approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has a particular clinical interest in therapies that focus on the development of self-compassion, including Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Compassionate Inquiry. Both of these approaches draw on attachment theory and neuroscience and emphasise the shared human experience of pain and suffering.
