Dr Katie High
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy), Masters of Psychology (MSc)
HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registered Clinical Psychologist
Dr Katie High is a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist and BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. She works as an Associate at The Lotus Psychology Practice alongside her NHS role, where she supports children, young people and adults.

She currently works at Great Ormond Street Hospital, supporting children and young people living with complex physical health conditions. Through this work, she has developed a deep appreciation of the emotional impact that health challenges, uncertainty and life transitions can have on individuals and families. She is committed to helping people feel understood, supported and less alone during difficult times.

Katie brings a warm, thoughtful and compassionate approach to her work. She believes that therapy should feel safe, collaborative and tailored to the individual rather than “one size fits all.” Drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), she works flexibly to meet each person’s unique needs, values and goals.

Her approach is strengths-based and non-judgemental. She is particularly mindful of creating a space where clients feel able to speak openly, explore challenges at their own pace, and recognise the resilience and strengths they already carry. She sees therapy as a partnership - working together to make sense of difficulties and to build meaningful, sustainable change.

Alongside her clinical work, Katie is actively involved in research, having spoken at international conferences with several academic publications focusing on research into suicide prevention and postvention. She is currently contributing to work that aims to inform policy change and promote that suicide prevention is everyone’s business. This reflects her wider commitment to improving systems of care and ensuring that psychological support is accessible, compassionate and responsive.

She has undertaken specialist training in neurodevelopmental assessment and is trained in the ADOS-2. She offers specialist assessments for Autism and ADHD, and works in a neuro-affirmative way that recognises and values neurodiversity.

Katie offers both in-person appointments in Berkhamsted, or online.
