Dr Esther Bowen

Dr Esther Bowen is a Health Psychologist and consultant at The Lotus Psychology Practice. She completed her Master of Science in Psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University before undertaking her professional doctorate in Health Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Esther has extensive experience supporting children, young people, adults, families, and carers across NHS services and charity settings. She currently works in a specialist community neurological service, helping individuals with cognitive, emotional and neurological difficulties. Her expertise includes managing chronic health conditions such as long COVID, chronic fatigue syndrome, persistent pain. Esther has worked across chest, heart and stroke units, and specialist bariatric surgery services. Esther has substantial experience working with neurodivergent children and adults.

She is trained in a wide range of psychological therapies, enabling her to tailor interventions to each client’s needs. These include Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based interventions, Schema-informed therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
As a Health Psychologist, Esther also applies health behaviour change interventions to support goals such as weight management and fatigue management. She integrates psychological and physical health knowledge, adopting a holistic, client-led approach that considers biological, psychological, and social aspects of functioning.
Alongside her clinical work, Esther is passionate about research, with a particular focus on highlighting the needs of under-researched populations within medical systems.

She offers sessions both in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire and online.
