Dr Rogan McCartan is a HCPC and British Psychological Society (BPS) registered Clinical Psychologist, and associate at The Lotus Psychology Practice. Rogan completed a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Counselling at Staffordshire University before later undertaking Clinical Psychology doctoral training at the University of Warwick and Coventry University.
Rogan has 13+ years of experience in the caring professions and has worked with young children, adolescents, adults and older adults across the lifespan, in a variety of different clinical services. Alongside working with the Lotus Psychology Practice, Rogan works in the NHS as a Senior and Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in an adult Community Mental Health Team. In this role, Rogan works with individuals experiencing a wide array of moderate to severe mental health difficulties, flexibly utilising various therapeutic techniques as needed.
The main therapeutic approaches that Rogan uses are Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT). Regardless of which therapy approach is used, Rogan believes in the fundamental importance of gently and collaboratively building an empathic, warm, trusting therapeutic relationship, in which clients can feel safe enough to begin making sense of their experiences and moving towards their goals. Rogan is also experienced at adapting therapy to suit an array of needs, such as those relating to neurodiversity or brain injury, always taking a compassionate and curious stance to areas of difference.
Rogan offers online therapy sessions on Monday and Tuesday evenings, ensuring that clients can access therapy from the comfort of their own home, after the work or school day.
